Dr. Blake S. Rust
Optometric Physician
Dr. Blake S. Rust was born and raised here in Knoxville, Tennessee, attended Farragut High School and has been in practice in West Knoxville since 2011.
Dr. Rust graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee with a degree in biochemistry and cellular and molecular biology. He then received his Doctor of Optometry degree, with honors, from Southern College of Optometry. While at SCO, he was a Student Ambassador, serving as a volunteer for campus wide events, a member of the American Optometric Student Association and Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians student affiliation, as well as Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society and Lions Club International. He earned several academic and clinical awards throughout his time there.
Dr. Rust’s areas of interest include comprehensive examinations, contact lens fittings and evaluations, refractive surgery consultations, pre- and post-operative care, and treating eye-related diseases such as acute eye infections, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma. He also participates in the InfantSEE program, which gives a child between the ages of 6-12 months a comprehensive eye examination at no cost to the parent or guardian.
Dr. Rust is an active member of the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians and the American Optometric Association. He is the past President of the East Tennessee Society of Optometric Physicians. He has proudly served on the Board of Directors for the Farragut/West Knoxville Chamber of Commerce. In his free time, he enjoys the lake, spending time with his wife and four kids while cheering on the VOLS!
